ACES Scholarship Listing 2008 - 2009

Listed below are scholarships administered through the University of Illinois College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES). Academic merit is the basis of award for all the scholarships. An * indicates that demonstrated financial need is also a selection criteria. For such scholarships, students must also have applied for and received eligibility for aid from the Office of Student Financial Aid, 620 E. John Street, Champaign, IL 61820.

An on-line scholarship application will be used by all continuing and newly admitted ACES students to apply for 2008-2009 scholarship consideration. The application filing period will be April 15, 2008 through June 2, 2008. Specific instructions will be provided to eligible students at that time.

Lois G. Adams Fund Scholarship
One or more scholarships of varying amounts given annually to College of ACES students from Coles County (IL). Preference to students from Hutton Township within Coles County.
Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) Company - University of Illinois Partnership Scholarship
Two $1,000 scholarships for senior level (4th year) students majoring in Agricultural Finance, Farm Management, and Agribusiness Markets and Management.
Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) Company Grain Operations Scholarship
One $750 scholarship for Junior and Senior level Technical Systems Management majors.
Hildegard Bates Scholarship Fund
One or more scholarships of varying amounts given to students enrolled in one of the following programs of study: Consumer Economics and Finance, Dietetics; Human Nutrition; Human Development and Family Studies; Consumer and Textile Marketing or Hospitality Management. Funds received from estate of Mrs. Bates, a 1935 graduate of the University of Illinois, and a former Home Economics teacher.
James Arthur Bauling Memorial Scholarship Fund *
$200-$250/year; junior or senior in Crop Sciences and planning to do advanced work in plant pathology on basis of scholarship, financial need, and general character. Preference to graduates of Hononegah Community High School, Winnebago County, and State of Illinois respectively.
Rebecca West Beeler Memorial Scholarship
One $500 annual award given to a freshman enrolled in one of these majors or options: Consumer Economics and Finance; Human Nutrition; Dietetics; Hospitality Management; Consumer and Textile Marketing; or Human Development and Family Studies with preference given to students from Gallatin or McLean counties. Funds provided in memory of Rebecca West Beeler, a 1963 graduate in home economics by her family and friends.
Emma Noll Beyer
Scholarship(s) available to student(s) enrolled in Human Nutrition, Dietetics, Hospitality Management or Consumer and Textile Marketing. Funds provided by Mrs. Beyer, a 1941 home economics graduate.
John H. Bicket Scholarship Fund *
One or more $1,000 scholarships in memory of John Bicket, who was a 32-year employee with the University of Illinois Extension Service, serving the Illinois farming community during those years in Cook, Greene and Vermilion Counties, and as a regional director in Southern Illinois. Scholarship to a student with demonstrated financial need from an Illinois farm family.
Dennis and Mildred Boyd
Annual scholarship of varying amounts to students in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences. Fund established through the estate of Mrs. Mildred Boyd, when she transferred the family farm near Broadlands, Illinois, to support scholarships in the College of Agriculture.
Clyde L. and Elsie Ross Butler Scholarship *
One or more scholarships of varying amounts given to students with demonstrated financial need enrolled in one of the following programs of study: Consumer Economics and Finance; Dietetics; Human Nutrition; Human Development and Family Studies; Consumer and Textile Marketing or Hospitality Management.
O. S. Carman Scholarship Fund
Varying number of scholarships awarded yearly to outstanding students in the College. Funds made available from the estate of O. S. and Cecelia Carman.
The Chicago Farmers Scholarship
One $1,000 award given to a junior with a strong academic record, involvement in extracurricular activities, and an interest in production agriculture.
CHS Foundation University Scholarships
Three $1,000 scholarships awarded to sophomore, junior or senior level students who are pursuing a career in production agriculture or agribusiness. Students must also demonstrate an interest in agricultural cooperative business through educational, classroom or internship experiences.
William F. Coolidge Scholarship Fund
A scholarship of varying amounts awarded to College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences juniors and seniors with a demonstrated interest in a career with the Cooperative Extension Service. Scholarship in honor of Mr. Coolidge who served the Cooperative Extension Service for 33 years.
Carl DeHart Memorial Farm Scholarship
$1,000 awards to students enrolled in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences who are graduates of Villa Grove High School. Students must have the recommendation of the Villa Grove Superintendent of Schools, and have been in the upper half of the graduating class of Villa Grove High School.
Harold E. Dustin Scholarship
One or more yearly awards provided in honor of Mr. Harold E. Dustin, who operated a grain and livestock farm throughout his lifetime near Galva, Illinois in Henry County. Preference given to students who graduated from Toulon High School (now Stark County High School) in Toulon, Illinois; Wethersfield High School in Kewanee, Illinois; or Wheaton North High School in Wheaton, Illinois; with additional consideration to students from Henry or Stark Counties. Funds provided by Jonathan and Judith Groesbeck in honor of her father.
William Famulener Foundation Scholarship in Agriculture
Two awards of varying amounts to students from Knox County desiring to engage in any field for the advancement of agriculture, who possess high character and a superior scholarship record.
Donald B. Ferguson Scholarship
One or more $1,000 scholarships given yearly to juniors or seniors majoring in Agricultural and Consumer Economics with preference to students with a farm background from DeKalb County or adjacent counties who are following an Agribusiness program of study. Funds in memory of Mr. Ferguson, an agriculture alumnus, who spent most of his professional career with the Swift and Company market analysis staff.
Raymond J. Fitzpatrick Family Scholarship Fund
One or more awards to juniors, seniors or graduate students with preference given to students who have demonstrated an interest in agricultural research and its application to the benefit of human health. Funding provided by Ramona Eidenmiller, daughter of Raymond J. Fitzpatrick.
Stanton and Callie Foster Memorial Scholarship
One $500 scholarship for a student with a farm background from Vermilion, Champaign, Piatt or Ford County. Scholarship funded by Dorothea Smith in memory of her grandparents.
Henry Clarence Fredrickson Memorial Scholarship
One or more scholarships given each year to a student with a farm background studying in an agricultural curriculum, with first preference given to a female student, and second preference to a student from Vermillion County, Illinois or other surrounding counties. Scholarship funded by Dorothea Smith in honor of her father, who farmed in Vermillion County for all of his life.
Theodore Funk Scholarships
One or more scholarships with a minimum value of $2,000 awarded yearly to Illinois resident junior or senior level students with a demonstrated commitment to, and career interests in, the beef cattle industry. Minimum grade point average of 2.5 (A=4.0) for consideration. Funds provided by Ted H. Funk, in honor of his father, Theodore Funk.
Ralph J. Garber Scholarship in Agriculture *
To be used in aiding worthy students with outstanding scholastic records and in need of financial assistance.
Sard Giles Scholarship Fund
Varying number of $500 scholarships available through the estate of Elmo Giles, Jr. in honor of his grandfather who farmed for many years in Macon County.
Philip D. and Bernice G. Glick Family Scholarship Fund
One or more $1,000 scholarships funded yearly by Karen Glick, in honor of her parents who farmed in Ohio and devoted their lives and resources to serving others and helping young people.
Aretta J. Graham Scholarship *
One or more yearly awards of varying amounts to students with demonstrated financial need, who also meet one of the following criteria listed in priority order: 1) students orphaned by the death of both or one of the student's parents; 2) students who live in a single parent household; and 3) students who are single parents. Funds made available from the estate of Aretta Graham, a graduate of the College of Agriculture in Home Economics.
Grain & Feed Association of Illinois Scholarship
Varying number of $1,000 awards to Illinois resident students of junior level and above who have interest in seeking a career in the grain and feed industry. Financial need may be a selection criterion.
Henry Joseph and Emma McCloskey Grein Scholarship *
One or more $500 - $1,000 scholarships to junior or senior students in an agricultural curriculum possessing high moral character and a demonstrated commitment to the profession for which they are preparing. Funded by Marjorie Pryor Grein in honor of her husband's parents.
Carol Gresham Memorial Scholarship
A $500 scholarship awarded to a student in the Consumer and Textile Marketing program in memory of Carol Gresham, a student in the College at the time of her death in 1988. Funds provided by Carman Gresham in memory of her daughter.
GROWMARK, Inc.
Three $1,000 awards given to junior or senior level students with a rural background enrolled in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences. Preference to students preparing for a career in Agribusiness, Agri-Accounting, Crop Sciences, Technical Systems Management or Agricultural Communications.
Wilmer Hellenthal Scholarship
Varying number of $500 scholarships available yearly to College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences students with a strong academic record who are majoring in one of the agricultural sciences. Funds from the estate of Mr. Hellenthal who attended the University of Illinois in the 1930's.
Lester C. and Phyllis M. Hendrickson Scholarship Fund
One or more scholarships each year to a student in agricultural curricular in memory of Mr. Hendrickson; and one or more scholarships each year to a student in one of the following programs: Consumer Economics and Finance; Dietetics; Human Nutrition; Human Development and Family Studies; Consumer and Textile Marketing; or Hospitality Management.
Brian P. Hennrich Memorial Scholarship
A $500 scholarship available to an entering freshman in an agricultural curriculum from Randolph County. Second priority to an entering freshman from counties adjacent to Randolph County. Funds provided by the late Mr. Albert Hennrich in honor of his son, a 1979 graduate of Southern Illinois University.
Fred E. Herndon Agricultural Industries Scholarship
One $1,000 award to a junior or senior with a rural background majoring in an agri-business related program of study in the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics. Funded by GROWMARK, Inc. in honor of Mr. Herndon who was the company President from 1931-1959.
Hill Hall Memorial Scholarship
Two $1,000 scholarships awarded annually to a junior or senior level student with preference given to students with demonstrated scholastic achievement, farm background, and with a career interest in livestock production. Funded by classmates and friends of former residents of Hill Hall, an agricultural student house at the University of Illinois in 1940-43, who have since passed away including six members who sacrificed their lives in World War II.
Herbert H. Hoemann Memorial Scholarship
One $1,000 scholarship per year given to a student with career interests in the grain and feed merchandising area. Funds received in memory of Herb Hoemann, executive vice president of the Illinois Grain and Feed Association from 1969-1985.
George E. Hunt Memorial Scholarship Fund
One $1,000 award to a junior or senior level Animal Sciences student with a strong academic record and a commitment to a Veterinary Medicine career. Funds in memory of Dr. Hunt, a noted Champaign County veterinarian in the 1930's and 1940's.
Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association Scholarship
One $750 scholarship awarded to a student majoring in agribusiness or plant and/or soil sciences. Preference will be given to those students with a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in the fertilizer, chemical or seed industry.
Illinois Society of Professional Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers Memorial Scholarship
Varying number of $1,000 awards to students with potential career interests in farm management, rural appraisal, agricultural finance or agri-business management. Funds provided by members of this professional organization, and also from memorial funds in honor of Plynn Decker and Roger Gish, past members of the Society.
Kenneth R. Imig Scholarship *
One $2,500 scholarship for a student from Iroquois county with demonstrated financial need and an interest in agriculture. If there are no eligible students from Iroquois County, preference will be given to students from McLean and Edgar Counties. Fund created through a gift from Mr. Imig, who had been Iroquois County Agriculture Extension Advisor from 1943-1974.
Bennie L. Johnson Scholarship
One $1,000 scholarship awarded to a College of ACES student from Peoria or Knox Counties, with a preference given to a student active in the 4-H program. Funding in memory of Bennie Johnson, a lifelong farmer in Peoria and Knox County, who was an active 4-H Club leader and University of Illinois Extension member.
Ida Bruner Johnson Scholarship
Annual scholarship given in memory of Ida B. Johnson M.S. '54 to a junior or senior undergraduate student majoring in human development and family studies with an option in child and adolescent development. The recipient shall have a GPA placing her/him in the upper 20 percent of students in the College. Funds provided by Mrs. Johnson's spouse, Verlin K. Johnson, M.S. '47, Ph.D. '51 of Fargo, North Dakota.
Max L. and Sonja J. Jones Scholarship
One $1,000 award provided by Renita S. Jones, a 1991 graduate in Marketing of Textiles and Apparel in honor of her parents, long-time educators and 4-H leaders in Cumberland County (IL). Priority to students with strong academic record, involvement in extracurricular activities, and interest in pursuing a research career. Dr. Jones completed a Ph.D. in Textile Sciences from the University of Georgia in 1994.
Stanley L. Kaufman Memorial Fund
One $500 award to a student in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences from DeWitt County. Each award subject to approval of Kaufman family members.
John G. Keller
A $1,000 scholarship available to a College of ACES student from Madison or St. Clair Counties, with preference given to students with a background in horseradish production. Now deceased, the fund was established by Mr. Keller from Collinsville whose family has been actively involved in the horseradish industry for many years.
J. Kennedy Kincaid, Jr. Agribusiness Scholarship Fund
A $1,000 scholarship given to a student preparing for a career in agribusiness. Preference given to students from Menard County, or counties adjacent to Menard County. Scholarship in memory of Kincaid, a 1948 graduate of the College who was active professionally in the fertilizer industry, and a strong community leader.
Francis W. Kittinger Scholarship
One or more scholarships of varying amounts (minimum of $2,000) for students in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences from Hamilton County or counties adjacent to Hamilton. Funding from the estate of Mr. Kittinger, who was a long-time extension advisor in Hamilton County.
Naomi R. and Freeman A. Koehler Scholarship
One $1,000 scholarship awarded to a junior or senior majoring in one of these areas: Consumer Economics and Finance; Human Nutrition; Dietetics; Consumer and Textile Marketing; Human Development and Family Studies or Hospitality Management. Award based on a strong academic record and demonstrated evidence of leadership by participation in the student organizations within the field.
Myrtle Kunkle-Andersen *
Freshmen in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences with financial need and promise of making a contribution to agriculture in Illinois. At least one-third of annual income shall be awarded to student or students from Marshall and Putnam Counties. Balance may be awarded to students residing elsewhere in Illinois. Varying amounts.
Glenna Lamkin Scholarship
Varying number of scholarships provided in the estate of Glenna Lamkin, a Foods and Nutrition faculty member and Extension Specialist in the College of Agriculture from 1930-1969. Scholarships available to undergraduate students enrolled in one of the following: Consumer Economics and Finance, Dietetics, Human Nutrition, Human Development and Family Studies, Consumer and Textile Marketing or Hospitality Management.
Margaret Lang Estate Scholarship
One $500 award to a junior or senior in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences.
Joseph Lawitz Scholarship Fund
One or more scholarships made available through the estate of Mr. Lawitz for College of ACES students with financial need.
Carl Lewis Memorial Scholarship Fund
One $500 annual award in memory of Mr. Lewis who was a high school agriculture teacher for a total of 38 years in Cornell, Illinois, and later in Hampshire, Illinois. Scholarship established in the estate of his wife, Trude Ruff Lewis.
Liehr Family Scholarship Fund
One or more scholarships to students from Mason or Pike Counties. The scholarship honors Albert Liehr, a 1952 graduate of the College of Agriculture, who taught vocational agriculture for many years, and his career also included being a Superintendent of two different school districts. Funds provided by his son, Dan Liehr, a 1973 graduate of the College of Agriculture.
Frank Ashton Lowis Scholarship
One yearly $500 scholarship to a graduate of a high school in Christian County. Selection based on academic merit, leadership, good citizenship, motivation, and commitment to an agricultural career. Funds in memory of Mr. Lowis, a 1925 graduate who farmed in Christian County (Walnut Lake Farms) for many years.
Mamer Scholarship Fund
Scholarship(s) awarded to junior and senior level student(s) majoring in one of these areas: Consumer Economics and Finance; Human Nutrition; Dietetics; Consumer and Textile Marketing; Human Development and Family Studies or Hospitality Management. Priority given to students with interests in household equipment or energy. Funding provided by the Mamer family in honor of four Mamer home economists.
Dale E. and Bernice E. (Smith) Mansperger
One or more scholarships of varying amounts given yearly to student(s) majoring in one of these areas: Consumer Economics and Finance; Human Nutrition; Dietetics; Consumer and Textile Marketing; Human Development and Family Studies or Hospitality Management. Funds provided by Mrs. Mansperger, a Home Economics graduate of the University of Illinois and her husband.
Joseph Markunas Memorial Scholarship Fund *
One or more scholarships of varying amounts awarded to Illinois resident juniors and seniors in the College based on academic merit and financial need and who have an interest in biotechnology and/or water resources and conservation. Funds provided in honor of Mr. Markunas who received degrees in 1937 and 1940 from the College of Agriculture.
H. Richard McFarland Scholarship
Two $1,000 awards to students from State of Illinois with farm backgrounds and strong academic and leadership performance.
James Bradley McIntyre Memorial Scholarship
One $500 scholarship awarded annually to a College of ACES junior level student (second priority to a senior) from Douglas County (IL). Scholarship in memory of James Bradley (Brad) McIntyre, a student in the College of ACES at the time of his death in 2002.
Midwest Agriculture Scholarship Foundation
One $500 scholarship funded by the Midwest Agriculture Scholarship Foundation for a student with a career interest in the fertilizer/chemical industry. Funding by members and friends of the Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association.
George E. and Mary E. Miller
One or more $1,000 scholarships funded by Mrs. Gretchen Markunas in honor of her parents. Preference for this scholarship is for outstanding juniors and seniors in the College of ACES with demonstrated interest in sustainable agriculture followed by students interested in farm management careers.
Herbert and Regina Krantz Moede.
One or more scholarships awarded to sophomore, junior and senior level students , who were born in Illinois, graduated from an Illinois High school, and who are current residents of the State of Illinois. Recipients must be employed at least 15 hours a week during the school year, and have a grade point average in the 2.0 - 2. 99 (A=4.0) range. Preference is also given to students who are currently participating in the ROTC program. Funds provided by the late Herbert Moede who received his BS and MS degrees from the University of Illinois, and who worked as an Economist with the United States Department of Agriculture.
Hugh P. Morrison
One $7,000 scholarship given to a senior with a strong academic record, evidence of leadership, and a demonstrated commitment to agriculture. Funded by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. in honor of Mr. Morrison, who served as president of Pioneer Corn Company of Illinois from 1937-1971.
Eilene Nolan Morton Memorial Scholarship *
One $1,500 scholarship available to students with financial need from a rural area of Illinois and active in the Illinois 4-H program. First preference to a student from Christian County. Funds provided by Kim Ann Morton and family in honor of her mother who spent her life in Taylorville, Illinois as a mother, homemaker, and farm owner.
Eugene G. Mosbacher Scholarship Fund
Merit based scholarships of varying amounts given to students, with first preference given to those from McLean County. Funds provided from Mr. Mosbacher, who was an Extension Service farm advisor in McLean County for 38 years.
Orville O. Mowery Scholarship
One or more scholarships of varying amount given yearly to students from Macoupin County. Second preference is to students from Alexander, Pulaski, or Union counties, with fourth preference to students from Montgomery County. Funding from Mr. Mowery, a former Macoupin County Cooperative Extension Service adviser.
Allan G. and Gloria F. Mueller Farm Business Management Scholarship Fund
One or more $3,000 scholarships awarded to sophomore, junior or senior level students enrolled in the Agricultural Business, Farm and Financial Management major (Dept of ACE) or in an Animal Sciences, or Crop Sciences production study option. Recipients shall be from an operating family farm where net farm income is the primary source of family income, and have a minimum 2.75 grade point average. Funds provided by Allan Mueller who received three degrees from the University of Illinois College of Agriculture and taught Agricultural Economics courses at the University of Illinois from 1945 until his retirement in 1985. His wife Gloria, a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, did significant volunteer work in the Champaign-Urbana area.
W. Delmer and Beulah Murphy Memorial Scholarship
One $1,000 scholarship awarded to an entering freshman, with preference given to a student graduating from Bement High School, second preference to students from Piatt County, otherwise to another deserving incoming freshman from Illinois.
Daniel and Edna Nies Memorial Scholarship
One or more $1,000 scholarships available to sophomore, junior, or seniors majoring in Crop Sciences or Animal Sciences with an interest in production agriculture from St. Clair County, or from adjacent counties. Funds provided by Joyce I. Nies, an alumna of the College of ACES in memory of her parents who farmed in St. Clair County for many years.
George W. Obernagel Scholarship
One scholarship awarded to a student with specific career interests in production agriculture or beef cattle production. Funds provided by Mr. Obernagel, a southern Illinois trust officer and farm manager who has devoted considerable time to numerous volunteer activities related to agriculture and his community.
Off-Campus Transfer Student Scholarship
Approximately 20 - $500 to $1,000 scholarships awarded to first time transfer students enrolling from off-campus institutions. Funding through the O.S. Carman fund.
Marion Piper Memorial Scholarship
One or more yearly scholarships awarded to students in one of the following programs of study: Consumer Economics and Finance; Dietetics; Human Nutrition; Human Development and Family Studies; Consumer and Textile Marketing or Hospitality Management. Funds made available from the estate of Marion Piper, a graduate of the University of Illinois in Home Economics and a former home economics advisor for the University of Illinois Extension Service.
Bryan Reardon and Bryan Reardon, Jr., Scholarship *
One or more $500 awards to students with senior standing, scholarship, leadership, financial need, and evidence of interest and preparation in some phase of soil building.
Anna Belle Robinson Memorial Scholarship
One or more scholarships of varying amount awarded to students majoring in Consumer and Textile Marketing, who has demonstrated academic achievement. Funding provided by Vernon Piper and his late wife, Marion, in memory of Anna Belle Robinson, a graduate of the University of Illinois, who was a Home Economics Education instructor at the University of Illinois for 20 years.
Walter and Polly Roesch Scholarship *
One or more scholarships awarded each year to entering freshmen, with priority to a student from New Berlin (IL) High School with financial need, strong academic record, and a background/interest in production agriculture. Second priority to other entering freshmen meeting the same criteria from other parts of Sangamon County (IL). Funds provided by Polly Roesch in recognition of the lifetime involvement in, and appreciation for, production agriculture that she and her late husband possessed.
Mabel Wamsley Roney
Two $500 awards annually to students from Coles County. May be renewed for subsequent years if satisfactory degree progress is being made.
Anna Lou Johnston Roth Scholarship
One or more scholarships of varying amounts (minimum of $2,000) to students from Christian County (IL). Funds made available to College of ACES students from the estate of Anna Lou Johnston Roth. A native of Taylorville, Mrs. Roth made these funds available in her estate because of the interest she and her husband had for their family farms and in the people of Christian County.
Charlotte Ann Russell Charitable Trust Scholarship
Several awards of varying amounts awarded yearly to College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences students from the "greater Hoopeston, Illinois area" (defined as Vermilion and Iroquois counties).
Orion Samuelson Scholarship in Agriculture
A $1,000 scholarship available based on academic merit and professional promise. Funds provided by friends of Samuelson, past president of the National Association of Farm Broadcasters, and vice president of WGN-Radio and WGN-TV, Chicago.
Marshall Scott Scholarship in Agribusiness
One or more yearly scholarships available to students in the Agribusiness, Farm and Financial Management major. Funds received through the estate of Mr. Scott, a 1932 graduate of the College, who taught high school agriculture for several years, and then operated his own business, Scott Associates Advertising Agency, where he provided services to numerous agricultural businesses.
K. Virginia Seidel Scholarship
One or more scholarships of at least $500 to a student majoring in a home economics related field of study. Preference to a student from Marion County with second priority to students from adjacent counties. Funds provided by the late K. Virginia Seidel, a former Home Economics faculty member.
Robert and Dorothy Spillman Scholarship
One or more scholarships of varying amount to students in the College of ACES. Funds received from the estate of Mr. Spillman who farmed for many years in Peoria County.
St. Clair County Farm Bureau Scholarship *
One $1,000 yearly award to a student in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences from St. Clair County with demonstrated financial need.
Kenneth A. and Vesta Stark Scholarship Fund
One or more scholarships available each year to College of ACES undergraduate students from the greater Pike County area. Priority given also to other students in the College who do not have access to other scholarship programs because of extenuating circumstances in their life that have caused undue hardship in their overall performance.
Debbie Steck Steele Memorial Scholarship
One $250 scholarship awarded yearly to a College of ACES student from Knox County in memory and in honor of Debbie, a 1977 graduate of the College. Preference to students with a strong record of involvement in student organizations and extra-curricular activities.
Leslie F. Stice Scholarship
A $500 scholarship awarded yearly to a junior or senior level student in the Dept. of Agricultural and Consumer Economics, with preference given to students with career interests in grain merchandising. Scholarship given in honor of Les Stice, a grain marketing Extension Economist with the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Service from 1941-1976.
Louis H. Streitmatter and Arlys Streitmatter Conrad Scholarship in Agriculture
Two scholarships of varying amounts awarded to junior or senior level students with an academic average of 3.0 (A=4.0) or better who plan to engage in farming following the completion of their undergraduate degree. Funds provided by Arlys Conrad in honor of her father and mother.
Gordon and Evelyn Brandt Thomas Scholarship
Two $1,250 scholarships awarded to College of ACES undergraduates who have been 4-H members for at least four years; with preference going to students reared on a Central Illinois farm, or to students/family members who have affiliation with Illi-dell of Alpha Gamma Sigma fraternity. Funds made available by Evelyn Brandt Thomas, founder of Brandt Consolidated, Pleasant Plains, Illinois, and widow of Gordon Thomas, in recognition of their successful 50 year business.
Gordon E. and Doris L. Thompson Scholarship
One or more scholarships of varying amounts to College of ACES students from Knox or Peoria Counties, with preference given to graduates of Knoxville or Elmwood High Schools. Funds provided by Gordon Thompson, a 1941 graduate of the College of Agriculture, and his wife, Lee, a graduate of Millikin University.
Lola Cremeans Tilly Scholarship
Scholarship(s) awarded to juniors and seniors majoring in one of these areas: Consumer Economics and Finance; Dietetics; Human Nutrition; Consumer and Textile Marketing; Hospitality Management or Human Development and Family Studies. Selection will be based primarily on academic merit. Funding provided by the late Dr. Lola Tilly of Fairbanks, Alaska. She earned bachelor's and master's degrees in home economics at the University of Illinois in 1920 and 1921.
Reid R. Tombaugh Memorial Scholarship
One or more scholarships of varying amounts for students from Livingston County. The funds are in honor of Reid Tombaugh, a 1926 graduate of the College of Agriculture, who was a farm manager in Pontiac, Illinois for many years. He also served as president of the College of Agriculture Alumni Association from 1962-1969.
Tomlin Scholarship
One or more scholarships of varying amounts (minimum $1,000) available to full-time students in the College of ACES with preference to students from rural areas of Mason County. Funds provided from the estate of Ramona T. Mattson, in honor of five men in her family who attended the U of I College of Agriculture including her father who was in one of the first graduating classes.
Dorothy Foersterling Waffle and Nathan Waffle Memorial Scholarships
A varying number of scholarships available to students in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences based on academic merit.
Robert J. Webb Scholarship
One $500 annual scholarship available to a College of ACES student whose home is in southern Illinois (south of Interstate 70). Fund established in memory of Bob Webb, a graduate of the University of Illinois, who served as superintendent of the Dixon Springs Agricultural Center for over 30 years.
Rexford J. Weller Scholarship Fund
One or more awards available each year to College of ACES students from Montgomery County from the estate of Rexford Weller, a lifetime resident and farmer within that county.
A. A. Wicklein Memorial Scholarship
One or more $500 scholarships given annually to a student enrolled in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences from Will County in memory of former Will County Extension Adviser, Andy Wicklein. Preference given to students active in Will County 4-H work. Special application available from the Will County 4-H Foundation, 100 Manhattan Road, Joliet, Illinois 60423.
Byron and Wilma Wright Memorial Scholarship Fund
One $500 scholarship provided yearly with preference given to College of ACES students from McDonough, Hancock, or Henderson Counties. Funds provided by Kenneth T. and Betty L. Wright in honor of his parents both of whom graduated from the College of Agriculture in 1938.
