It is necessary for graduate students to declare their intent to participate in the ACES Graduate Convocation Ceremony at the Smith Music Hall by registering online.  Online registration must be completed by Thursday, April 24.

ACES Graduate Convocation Ticket Distribution for M.S. and Ph.D Recipients

Guest tickets will be available for pick-up in 115 ACES Library beginning Monday, May 4, from 9:00 am - 12:00 noon and 1:00 - 4:00 pm for graduates who registered online by the April 24 deadline. 

Cap & Gown

To assure uniformity of attire, graduates must order rental academic attire via the web at http://www.herffjones.com. The deadline to order is Monday, April 20. Academic attire cannot be ordered after the deadline, therefore any graduate who thinks he/she may participate should place an order. Payment is made when the attire is picked-up. Payment is not required for ordered attire that is not claimed.

ACES Graduate Convocation Ceremony

Participating graduates will assemble in alphabetic order by department in the North Corridor on the first floor of Smith Music Hall. To facilitate line-up, it is imperative that graduates arrive by 9:30 am. Faculty Guides will assist in assembling graduates in the proper order. During the processional into the hall, graduates will be seated on the main floor and faculty members will be seated on the stage. 

Each participating graduate will receive a diploma cover during the ceremony and have a picture taken while crossing the stage. A proof copy of the photo may be viewed online a few days after the ceremony with no obligation to buy. Graduates will receive their diplomas in mid-summer if one has not already been received.

Tassel Turn Luncheon

ACES graduates and their guests are invited to attend Tassel Turn Luncheon, hosted by the ACES Alumni Association. It will be held on the lawn directly southwest of the ACES Library, Information, and Alumni Center. This is a delightful event that removes the necessity of making other lunch arrangements and allows plenty of time to participate in the campuswide Commencement at 2:00 pm. in the Assembly Hall.

Tassel Turn lunches will consist of your choice of sandwich or salad, roll, fruit, chips, cookie, and beverage. The cost of the lunch is $15 per person. Paid reservations must be received by Friday, May 8. Payment for the graduate's lunch is required.

Reservations may be made by returning the card on the invitation with payment or online with a credit card payment (Visa or MasterCard only). Invitations were sent to students and parents along with other graduation information in March.

Campuswide Commencement Ceremony

College of ACES graduates participate in the campuswide ceremony at 2 pm at the Assembly Hall. For more information about this ceremony, go to www.uiuc.edu/commencement.

Detailed Information for May B.S. Recipients

Students will be receiving two packets of information about graduation activities via U.S. Postal Service the week of Spring Break. One packet will be from the Committee on Commencement and the other from the College of ACES. Parents of May graduates will also receive a packet of information from the College of ACES during the same week.

ACES Undergraduate Convocation Guest Ticket Request for May Graduates

Due to capacity of the Foellinger Great Hall in the Krannert Center for Performing Arts, tickets for ACES Undergraduate Convocation are limited. Participating graduates may be able to get a maximum of four guest tickets. The definite number of guest tickets available per participating graduate will not be determined until it is known how many graduates intend to participate in the ceremony. Graduates do NOT need a ticket for themselves. Students will request their ACES Undergraduate Convocation guest tickets when they complete the online ACES Senior Survey. The survey, and hence the request for tickets, must be completed by 5 pm on Monday, April 21. The survey will take about 25 minutes to complete. 

Students will be asked to complete several surveys. Completion of the ACES Senior Survey is the only survey that will suffice for reserving tickets to the ACES Undergraduate Convocation Ceremony. It is the only survey that will ask how many tickets you are requesting for that event.

Late or incomplete surveys will not be accepted.

ACES Undergraduate Convocation Ticket Distribution for May Graduates

Participating graduates may pick-up their previously requested guest tickets for ACES Undergraduate Convocation Ceremony on Friday, April 25, 1 pm - 4 pm or on Monday, April 28, 9 am - 12 noon in the Sims Room, #109 ACES Library. Graduates must pick-up their tickets in person. If you are unable to get your tickets at the designated time, contact Jenny Neef via email at jneef@uiuc.edu.


Extra Tickets

It is highly unlikely that any extra tickets will be available. In years past, the only extra tickets were for overflow seating. Overflow seating will be in the Orchestra Room on Level 2 of the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. Guests in the Orchestra Room will view the ceremony via large screen television.

If additional tickets are available for overflow seating, an email will be sent to participating graduates seniors after 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 30, detailing the distribution of additional tickets on a first-come, first-served basis.

Extra Tickets

Lois G. Adams Fund Scholarship
One or more scholarships of varying amounts given annually to College of ACES students from Coles County (IL). Preference to students from Hutton Township within Coles County.
Fighting Illini Pork Club Scholarship

The members of the Fighting Illini Pork Club have provided funds that support three annual scholarships for outstanding students who have excelled in livestock and meat judging programs. The Fighting Illini Pork Club has actively supported University of Illinois athletic programs and judging teams in the Department of Animal Sciences for over 20 years.

The scholarships will be presented in two categories and be selected by the faculty members responsible for the University and State 4-H Livestock and Meats Judging Teams.

A. A $500 scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding freshman enrolled as an Animal Sciences major that was a member of the Illinois State 4-H Livestock or Meats Judging Teams. If no worthy freshman student is identified, a student who has transferred into the University of Illinois, is majoring in Animal Sciences, and was a member of a Community College Livestock, Meats or Meat Animal Evaluation team will be considered.

B. Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to the outstanding Livestock, Meats, or Meat Animal Evaluation Judging Team members that are majors in Animal Sciences.
