Instructions for Online Scholarship Application

Please read the instructions completely before
starting the online application process. Answers to common questions
will be found here. Please review these instructions before contacting
the office by email or phone.

You will need to login using your BLUESTEM ID and PASSWORD. This is the same as your net id and password.

You
will need to fill out all fields in the form unless it is specified.
You will not be allowed to submit the application until all of these
fields are filled. This will include even a minimal response for each
of the essay questions. If you are unsure which fields you are required
to fill out, you will be prompted before you can submit.

There is a ONE HOUR
time limit for filling out the online application. After you fill out
the non-essay fields, you may submit the form and return to finish the
essay questions at a later time. You will be allowed to come back and
edit until June 1, 2007.

You should have your essays composed
and completed in a word processing program before cutting and pasting
into our application. DO NOT compose the answers to your essay
questions while you are filling out the online application.

Some
data in the online application is pulled from campus databases. You
will notice that these fields are not editable. Address change
information must be submitted through regular procedures established by
the campus registrar. Please complete these changes before June 1, and
that information will be reflected in the application used for
scholarship selection.

All information regarding GPA and
academic hours will be updated from campus records as of the end of the
spring 2007 semester. If a change of major within the College of ACES
has already been approved effective for the start of the summer 2007 or
fall 2007 semester, that also will be updated. That change of major may
well make you eligible for a different set of scholarships than what
you originally saw. All of this updating will occur before scholarship
evaluations and selections are made.

The application process is currently closed.

Scholarships

A number of scholarships for undergraduate students enrolled in the College of ACES are made available through the generous support of alumni and friends of the College. Approximately $1,100,000 in merit-based awards are being awarded in the 2007-2008 academic year in the College. Currently enrolled and newly admitted ACES students will find helpful scholarship information in the five sections noted below.

Jonathan Baldwin Turner (JBT) Scholarships

The Jonathan Baldwin Turner (JBT) Scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit to students prior to their freshman year. JBT Scholarships are available for every major and option in the College of ACES and are renewable for all four years. A comprehensive overview of the program is available by clicking on the "Get more information about JBT Scholarships" link below. As noted, a student elected for a JBT Scholarship receives $1,000 for the freshman year, and a commitment for an additional $1,000 for each of their following three years assuming receipt of a 3.40 (A=4.0) grade point average, and continued enrollment in the College of ACES.

Get more information about JBT Scholarships

All interview dates for Fall 2008 JBT candidates have now been completed.

JBT scholarship interviews for Fall 2009 prospective College of ACES students will be held on the Urbana-Champaign campus July 15, August 19, September 3, and September 22. Interviews will also be held in Oak Brook, IL on August 12, and at the UIC campus in Chicago on August 13.

College of ACES Scholarships

The College administers many scholarships that are not specific to any one major or option. A complete listing of these scholarships can be viewed at the link below. The 2008-2009 academic year scholarship application filing period was May 5 through June 2, 2008. Students complete the on-line application by entering through a password protected site. Access to the system is available to all continuing students; and also to all NEW freshman and off-campus transfer students who use the NetID and NetID Password received after they accept the offer of admission. No scholarship awards are made until after June 2, 2008.

View a complete listing of College Scholarships

Awards will be made throughout the summer and fall 2008 semester. Recipients are selected on the basis of specific criteria and academic merit. Scholarship recipients in most recent years have had a grade-point average above 3.0. (For some scholarships on the listing, students must also have applied for and received eligibility for, need-based aid from: Office of Student Financial Aid, 620 E. John Street, Champaign, IL 61820, phone: 217/333-0100 http://www.odos.uiuc.edu/osfa/)

In completing the scholarship application, the student answers a variety of demographic questions and 3-4 essay questions at the end of the form. Once the student submits the information, a listing of those scholarships for which the student appears to meet the criteria will be identified. The student can also ask to review a description of all the scholarships in the ACES Scholarship Database, and then ask to be considered for one or more from the listing by making a statement as to why the student believes he/she meets the stated criteria.

Departmental Scholarships

Each of the College of ACES departments have scholarships specifically for students enrolled in programs in their unit. A departmental scholarship application must be completed for these awards. Click the appropriate department to review the current listing and to obtain application information.

Agricultural and Biological Engineering
ABE - Technical Systems Management
Animal Sciences
Crop Sciences
Food Science and Human Nutrition
Human and Community Development
Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences

Study Abroad Scholarships

Get more information about Study Abroad Scholarships

Industry and Organizations Scholarships

Industry and Organizations also administer their own scholarships programs.

View a partial listing of Industry and Organizations Scholarships
